The master of mystery. The original creator of horror stories. The beloved "Raven" and "Tell-Tale Heart" stories that give us chills and surprise us with a twisted ending. All of this and more can best be described by one person—Edgar Allan Poe.

Historical Presenter, Michelle Gibbons, will discuss the intriguing life and mysterious death of the famous American writer, editor, poet, and literary critic, Edgar Allan Poe. Though Poe’s life may have been cut tragically short in 1849 at age 40, his numerous works still live on today and are an inspiration to many. Who would have known that it was Poe’s work that inspired the famous Alfred Hitchcock? From his early life as an eventual orphan to his college and military career to his famous poetry and literary works, Gibbons will discuss Poe’s life from birth ‘til after death. She will explain his creative and innovative writings and his style of intriguing, dark romanticism. Gibbons will discuss the numerous awards and honors Poe received after his death.
