Program Description

Event Details

This maker project is learning the basics of how to Eco Print; this is a beginner class. Learn how to do Eco Printing (also known as Eco Dyeing). No experience is necessary; come and learn the basics of working with plant materials and paper and/or fabric to create a fun project! The finished materials from this project can be used in the upcoming bookbinding program.

SUPPLIES TO BRING: Please bring fresh leaves and flowers that you've collected to use with this project. If you have pressed leaves and flowers you will need to soak them in water 20-30 minutes before the program and bring them in a plastic bag or in paper towels. Please bring an empty 1 gallon container with a lid (like an orange juice or water container).

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the time constraints of the class and that the eco-printed materials will need to be processed for a couple of hours, you will be able to pick up your finished eco-printed materials the next day.

Maker Night is an evening for ages 13 and up to create, learn and discover through hands-on makerspace activities to help you learn how to use the equipment and tools in MetaSpace 511. Maker Night projects will vary and are a great way to learn something new and create a fun project in the process!

  • All supplies other than leaves, flowers, and 1 gallon containers are provided. Registration is required.

  • Space is limited; please cancel in advance if you are unable to attend so the next person on the waitlist will be able to have your spot.

We will be having two sessions of Maker classes this Fall One on Tuesday Nights, and the repeat class on the following Wednesday mornings, the content will be the same.

We will also set aside a limited number of extra supplies and instructions for programs, so if you can't attend a session, you can come to the makerspace and work with a kit and staff members for that maker project.

Please contact our Makerspace Lead Innovator Nancy for additional training options: metaspace511@mukwonagolibrary.org or call 262-363-6411 ext. 4111

Accessibility

MCL is committed to providing the highest degree of accessibility within our means. Please call 262-363-6411 ext. 4111 before any event with any disability-related accommodation requests.

Photo Permission

Staff often take pictures during Library classes, programs, and events. The Library may use these photos for publicity in print, on social media, and on our website. If you do not want a photo of yourself or your child taken, please inform the person in charge immediately before the event taking place.

Program Lottery Registration

Have you been trying to go to a program but keep missing out due to registration filling quickly? With the overwhelming popularity of programs, we are implementing a lottery system for registration. This is to help balance the equity of access against the reality of limited resources.

Once registration is open, you can sign up anytime during the five days, Friday through Tuesday; everyone will be on a waiting list. We will do a random lottery selection on Wednesday to choose attendees and then send you an email confirmation.

Registration Requirements

Due to the limited seats and resources available for registration-required programs, and the number of people on waitlists, please cancel 24 hours prior to the program if you're unable to attend. After two no-shows or late cancellations, your registration will be moved to the waitlist for future programs.
